Several sleepy little romantic villages are nestled in the shadow of New Hampshire’s towering White Mountains, but Jackson is considered the most picturesque. Entering this historic town through the old covered bridge (the "kissing bridge"), one is struck by the combination of both quaint and sophisticated shops, friendly people, and dramatic, postcard-qualityvistas. Upon leaving this European-style mountainside village, most newcomers have the same thought: "We’ve got to come back!"

The variety of abundant activities is another factor creating such a warm bond between visitors and this community of under a thousand full-time residents. Besides the wonderful skiing (Jackson was named one of the top ten romantic ski getaways by Ski America), there’s fishing in the many nearby lakes and rivers, hiking on the hundreds of miles of intriguing trails and abandoned railroad lines, or trekking to the numerous scenic areas—such as the pools and rippling waterfalls of the Wildcat River. The cog railroad to the top of Mt. Washington, the windiest place in America, is only a few miles away. Horseback riding and guided tours are also available. Interesting events are scheduled year-around, from the Jackson Rubber Duck Race to the Snow Sculpture contest to the August "Art in the Park" celebration. Jackson’s golf courses have something for everyone.

Shopping presents a broad range of options, as does the first-class night life; both offer a chance to meet and compare notes with others staying in the area’s high-end condos or cozy B-and-Bs. Outlets abound for locally-made products from throughout the Mt. Washington Valley. Long a destination for artists seeking visual inspiration, the town has a wide variety of art galleries in which to see how others interpret the abundant beauty. The old-time ambiance goes back to pre-Civil War days and beyond.

Activities nearby include: Hiking, Rock Climbing, Biking, Golf, Tennis, Racquetball, Basketball, Fitness Center, Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, Miniature Golf, Amusement Parks, Fishing, Hunting, Wildlife Viewing, Horseback Riding, Shopping, Restaurants, Live Theater, Museums, Sightseeing, Swimming, Downhill Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, and Sledding.
